The Big ‘Birth Experience’ Sharing Circle

A Free Event by Honey House x Brighton Wellness Festival

Your Birth Story Deserves to Be Heard

In the sacred space of The Big ‘Birth Experience’ Sharing Circle, we invite women to honour their birth experiences through the ancient practice of storytelling and deep listening. This is a ritual of recognition, validation and healing.

Your birth and postpartum experience shapes the foundation of your motherhood journey. How held, seen, and validated you feel in these pivotal moments ripples through every aspect of your parenting experience. Yet in our current maternity landscape, too many women carry unprocessed experiences, unheard stories, and unacknowledged trauma.

A Space for Truth and Transformation

This gathering creates a safe container for women to share their complete birth stories - the profound highs, the challenging lows, and everything in between. Whether your experience was euphoric, traumatic, or somewhere on the spectrum between, your story matters and deserves to be witnessed.

This is a pure listening circle—no advice, no fixes, no feedback. Just the profound gift of being truly heard. Trained doulas and birth professionals will be present to provide gentle support afterwards should the sharing bring up powerful emotions.

Reclaiming an Ancient Rite

Women's sharing circles are not a new concept - they are an ancient rite of passage that has supported women through life's transitions for millennia. In reconnecting with this tradition, we create space for the kind of deep processing and community support that modern motherhood often lacks.

Why This Matters Now

The UK maternity system faces significant challenges, and many women experience coercion, lack of choice, and trauma during what should be one of life's most empowering experiences. Even fewer receive adequate opportunity to process and integrate their birth story afterward.

We believe that every mother has the fundamental right to have her experience heard, validated, and honoured. Birth is not just a medical event - it is your child's passage into the world and your passage into a new version of yourself. Both deserve commemoration.

What to Expect

  • A sacred, confidential space held with reverence and respect

  • Opportunity to share as much or as little of your story as feels right

  • Birth professionals opening up the circle with the sharing of their own stories

  • Approx 5 minutes per story

  • Deep, non-judgmental listening from fellow mothers

  • Babies welcome, but unfortunately due to the nature of intimate sharing this event probably isn't ideal for toddlers / pre-schoolers

  • Professional support available if needed

  • Connection with a community of women who understand

  • A chance to release, honour, and begin to heal

Come as you are. Your story whatever it holds—is welcome here.
